You Look Good, You Play Good

Honestly, fashion and basketball don't seem to go together. Yet, in some way, they do. I know many players who couldn't care less about fashion or what they hoop in and they are some of the best players I've ever come across. However, I also know players who always feel "If you look good, you play good". For example, many people judge how good a player is based on how they dress, are their shorts too high?, their t-shirt too baggy?, do they have the latest J's on? etc.; this is where a certain stereotype comes into play. Fashion is a way of expression for that player. It's important to me that I, and others, dress in a way that gives us confidence and comfortability being ourselves. It's a perfect way to express ourselves on the court without using words.

Fashion is a powerful tool of expression. Sometimes this expression helps me create new friendships. A compliment from me to someone else about their expression through their shoes may lead to a whole conversation. Hooping in a new pair of shoes gives me an indescribable feeling. For a few reasons it feels like my confidence is on a whole new level, one because I have new shoes, two they look good on me, and three at that moment I find my inner Kobe (or whoever your fav player is) and I feel like I can do it all.

My name is Imani and here are my top 3 shoes to hoop in.

My first season overseas got cut short due to Covid19. Because of this, I'm looking forward to getting back on the court. Our current season has been postponed or canceled so we haven't been able to practice, but I'm still in the gym getting back in shape. I had ankle surgery back in August (2020) so I'm looking forward to practicing again with my team and the new coach. I am still debating what shoes I wanna rock for this new season. I'll be coming into my second season with the Düsseldorf Capitol Bascats in Germany.

This is Imani Dixon coming from Germany, thanks!
